Major Injuries Reported After Pickup Crashes Along Highway 299

Highway 299 East was down to one lane for a time Monday morning for a vehicle recovery. About 12:30AM, a CHP report said a 3/4 ton pickup had gone off the road and landed on a boulder, breaking off the pickup’s bed. Because of the location of the accident, it was decided to postpone the recovery effort. A heavy-duty tow truck was brought in and Cal-Trans closed one lane of traffic for almost an hour so the pickup could be dragged back to the highway and removed. Major injuries were reported, but the condition and name of the driver have not been released.
