I-5 Open As Big Rig Teeters Off Antlers Bridge

The CHP gave drivers a relief from chain control on Northbound Interstate Five for a while Sunday, but then a closure was no longer a choice after crashes at around 4:30PM involving multiple big rigs. The initial crash left a tractor-trailer hanging halfway over the side at the south end of the Antlers Bridge. As traffic stopped because of that crash, another collision occurred between a FedEx big rig and five other vehicles, with the FedEx truck blocking the entire roadway. Because of the backed-up northbound traffic, at least two heavy duty tow trucks had to be called from Mount Shasta. There was a lot of wreckage, but only minor injuries. The freeway was finally reopened at 1:20AM Monday morning.
