Dignity Health Unveils Free Online Services

Public health officials have been advising people who have the symptoms of COVID-19/Coronavirus, including low-grade fever, a cough or shortness of breath, to call their primary care physician. That’s fine for those who have one, but many uninsured or underinsured Northern California residents have not seen a doctor in years, and only resort to seeking medical attention when it’s absolutely necessary. Now Dignity Health/Mercy Medical Center is offering a free option for people who have symptoms but don’t know who to call. It’s called Virtual Care Anywhere, and it’s a safe and convenient way for people to speak with a medical professional for advice without visiting a clinic, hospital or doctor’s office. Using the online service starts in one of three ways: with a visit to dignityhealth.org/virtualcareanywhere or downloading the virtual care anywhere app in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, or by calling 855-356-8053. There’s usually a $35 charge per visit, but that will be waived by using the coupon code covid19. After a request is made, a medical provider will contact the patient as soon as possible, usually within 15 to 30 minutes.
