Deputies Say Woman Intentionally Lit Man On Fire

A Hayfork woman is accused of setting a man on fire, leaving him with severe burns. Medical personnel and Trinity County Deputies were called Wednesday afternoon to a location in Hayfork, where they found the victim suffering widespread burns all over his upper body. He’s hospitalized in stable condition at last word. 53-year-old Tami Novak was arrested at the scene. The Trinity County Sheriff’s Office says that when she was interviewed, Novak admitted to pouring lamp oil over the victim’s head before setting him ablaze. She’s in jail for mayhem, assault with a deadly weapon, assault with a caustic chemical and domestic violence.
