Someone died Saturday evening in a crash on Highway 299 east of Redding. Just before 6 O’clock the unidentified man was westbound east of Sugar Pine Camp Road in a 2008 Prius when he lost control on a right-hand curve, crossed the opposing lane and slammed into a tree before rolling over down the embankment. The driver was wearing a seatbelt but did not survive. The coroners office is trying to determine the man’s identity.
