Warming Fire Damages U-Haul Trucks

A couple of U-Hauls were damaged by a warming fire Saturday morning. Redding Firefighters were dispatched at 7:15AM to the U-Haul rental center on East Cypress Avenue. Apparently, homeless people have been breaking into the backs of U-Haul vehicles and staying overnight inside of them to stay warm. The fire Saturday morning was started between two of the vehicles, and the flames spread to both of them, causing about $20,000 worth of damage to cargo areas. A U-Haul representative said it was the second recent fire in their storage yard.
