A man who died Saturday evening in a crash on Highway 299 east of Redding has been identified by the Shasta County Coroners Office as 43-year-old Tilak Madhukar Baviskar of Yuba City. Just before 6 O’clock Saturday Bavikar was westbound east of Sugar Pine Camp Road in a 2008 Prius when he lost control on a right-hand curve, crossed the opposing lane and slammed into a tree before rolling over down the embankment. He was wearing a seatbelt but did not survive.
