Coronavirus: Monday Morning Update

Twenty Shasta County residents have tested positive for Covid-19, and a third patient has died from the virus. The latest fatality is a man in his 60s who tested positive on March 27th while at a Sacramento County hospital for an unrelated procedure. Over the weekend, nine more patients tested positive: a man and a woman in their 20s, a man and a woman in their 40s, a man and a woman in their 50s, a man in his 70s and 2 women in their 70s. Two others, the first and third diagnosed, have recovered, leaving 15 active cases.
A female Shasta College student in her 20s who apparently contracted the virus while traveling out of state may have exposed others while at the Shasta College Health Sciences building in downtown Redding on March 12th.
Tehama County has one confirmed coronavirus case. Siskiyou County has three and Butte County has eleven. Humboldt County has 44. There are none reported in Trinity, Lassen or Modoc counties.
There remains a severe shortage of testing materials as most are going to hard-hit urban areas, so local testing is still prioritized for people with the most severe symptoms, those who have knowingly been exposed, and those most at risk.
