Redding Fire Department made quick work of a fire in South Redding Thursday afternoon. Callers reported a vegetation fire with spread to structures off Sacramento Drive near Allen’s Golf Course, according to Redding Fire Battalion Chief Eric McMurtrey, who says it turned out to be a 20 by 20 foot shed. It was completely destroyed, with damage estimated at $25,000. A neighbor was burning vegetation and the fire got out of control and spread the nearby shed. The neighbor was cited for allowing the fire to escape.
