Thursday Update: 27th Case Of COVID-19 Reported In Shasta County

Shasta County’s first Coronavirus case in a week is not a typical virus patient. A teenage girl has tested positive, making her the 27th confirmed case of COVID-19 in Shasta County. She’s in isolation at home. Three people have died from the virus and 19 have recovered. There are five people still sick, one of them hospitalized. 1110 Covid tests in Shasta County have shown negative results. 14 people are currently under quarantine orders due to possible exposure. Testing has become more widely available in Shasta County, and both major hospitals now have rapid testing capability. Anyone with a fever, cough and shortness of breath should request a test from their healthcare provider or public health at 225-5591.

Other Northstate counties have also slowed down in their new cases. Tehama County’s only confirmed Coronavirus patient has died. Butte County has had 16 cases, with 3 still active. Siskiyou County has 5, but all have recovered. Glenn County has had 4, with just one still active. There have been 52 cases in Humboldt County, where they will begin requiring everyone to wear masks in public. There are still none reported in Trinity, Lassen or Modoc Counties. There are more than 35,000 cases statewide, and more than 10% of them are healthcare workers. Almost 1,400 Californians have died from the virus.
