Woman Arrested For DUI After Rear End Crash In Redding

A Hayfork woman was arrested for driving under the influence of marijuana after a two car crash in East Redding on Saturday. Redding Police were called to the two vehicle crash on Churn Creek Road near Harpole road at about 6PM. Upon arrival officers found a 2008 Chevy Aveo had ran into the rear of a 1964 Chevrolet. No injuries were reported, but officers believed the driver of the Chevy, 21-year-old Aspen Link, may have been driving under the influence. Link reportedly told officers that she was driving southbound on Churn Creek and was using her cell phone. She also reportedly told officers that she wasn’t paying attention and did not slow down as the other car was making a turn on to Harople Road. Officers say they smelled a strong odor of burnt marijuana coming from link and a field sobriety test was conducted. Link was arrested for DUI and her car was impounded. During a search of the car, officers reported finding 3 pounds of marijuana, about 50 marijuana joints, and cash consistent with the sales of marijuana. Link was taken to the hospital and then to the Shasta County Jail where she was booked for driving on a suspended license, DUI drugs, and possession of marijuana for sales.
