Update: Supervisors Vote To Send Letter To Newsom On Virus Restrictions

The Shasta County Board of Supervisors voted Tuesday to send a letter to Governor Newsom asking that he lift some of the Coronavirus restrictions in the county. The letter asks that the restrictions be lifted on Sunday May 1st, but the Governor Tuesday said that the state is “weeks, not months away” from being ready to get to the point of reopening businesses and returning people to work based on a four-phase plan he outlined at his press briefing. The Governor said non-essential retail and manufacturing would be the first businesses to open when the state modifies its stay-at-home order, but he did not give an opening date. Under the plan, local governments will be allowed to enforce stricter reopening rules, but not lesser ones.
