Planning Commission Approves Plans For New South Redding Costco

Plans to build a large Costco-anchored shopping center at the intersection of Bechelli Lane and South Bonnyview Road have again been unanimously approved by the Redding Planning Commission, following a virtual public hearing held Wednesday. The 25 acres is currently occupied by a high canopy of trees. The “River Crossing Marketplace” would include a 152,000 square foot Costco, including a gas station with up to 30 fueling positions and around 62,000 square feet of other businesses. Traffic plans include widening bechelli and South Bonnyview and constructing a multi-lane roundabout at the intersection. Improvements would also be made to the I-5 overpass and ramps. The commission had previously approved the project in July of last year, but it ran into significant opposition. Final approval will have to be done by the city council at an upcoming meeting.
