Thursday Update: No New Cases Of COVID-19, Testing Sites Begin To Open

There were no new cases of COVID-19 reported in Shasta County Wednesday. A woman in her 50’s tested positive the previous day, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 31. There have been 4 Coronavirus deaths in Shasta County. 6 people are still sick and in isolation, one of them hospitalized. 14 people are quarantined due to possible exposure. The number of negative tests so far is not available due to a problem with the state database.

Tehama County’s only confirmed Coronavirus patient has died. Butte County has had 16 cases. Siskiyou County has had 5, but all have recovered. Glenn County has had 5. There have been 53 cases in Humboldt County. There are still none reported in Trinity, Lassen or Modoc Counties.

Widespread testing is now possible in Shasta County, including for people with no symptoms. The first round of asymptomatic testing is for health care workers and other essential workers. Appointments for the Optumserve walk-up testing station at Shasta College can be made by calling 1-888-634-1123. Starting Friday appointments can be made online. Those with COVID-19 symptoms should still contact their healthcare provider or public health at 225-5591. An Optumserve site will open next week in Red Bluff, and it will then move to Corning.
