Prius Driver Killed After Crashing Into Parked Big Rig Trailer

A man from Arcadia was killed in an early morning crash in Siskiyou County. Just before 3 O’clock Wednesday morning the 39-year-old driver of a Toyota Prius was on Highway 97 when he struck the trailer of a big rig parked on a wide shoulder area near the Living Memorial Sculpture Garden. The trucker was asleep, and the impact with the trailer was enough to throw him from his sleeper cab. He got out to check on the driver, but the Prius was pinned beneath the trailer. Cal-Fire personnel declared the driver deceased shortly after arriving on scene. The man’s name has not been released and the CHP is still investigating.
