Siskiyou County Joins Other Rural Counties In Re-Opening

Siskiyou County is the latest to be given approval to move more rapidly toward opening, joining Shasta, Butte, Glenn, Colusa, Lassen, Plumas and Tehama Counties. Trinity County is preparing as well. This does not mean they’re open for visitors. Non-essential travel is still strongly discouraged. People should wear masks when visiting any public place. Medically vulnerable people and anyone over age 65 should stay at home as much as possible. It does mean the opening of most retail stores, dine-in restaurants, shopping malls, office-based businesses and more. The Mount Shasta Mall plans to open on Monday, though not all stores will open right away. Most parks, trails and golf courses may open. Routine medical care, dental care and optometry may resume. Childcare is allowed for small groups, and Shasta County Schools are set to reopen August 10th. Many types of businesses are not yet approved for opening, including gyms, movie theaters, bars, professional sports, hair or nail salons, tattoo parlors, libraries, playgrounds, concerts or churches.
