The CHP is investigating a crash that killed a man at Lake California in Cottonwood over the weekend. At 17 minutes after Midnight Sunday morning a 2018 Subaru Crosstrek was eastbound on Lake California Drive approaching the guardshack of the gated community when it went off the right side of the road for unknown reasons. The Subaru collided with a tree and caught fire. The driver, a 22-year-old man from Chico, was unable to get out of the burning vehicle and he died at the scene. It’s not known if alcohol was a factor. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Red Bluff Area CHP.
