California Sets In-Person Voting Rules Under Virus Threat

LOS ANGELES (AP) – California is sending every registered voter a mail-in ballot for the November election, but the state will also establish hundreds of locations for people who want – or need – to vote in-person. The decision to send every voter a mail-in ballot was prompted last month by health concerns tied to the coronavirus. Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom says the state will also have a range of options for in-person voting. Counties must open a minimum of one in-person voting location for every 10,000 voters beginning the Saturday before Election Day. Republicans have been critical of the state’s plans for November.
