WWII Flag Stolen During Looting In Reno Returned

An American Flag from a World War Two battleship that was stolen when protesters broke into Reno City Hall was later returned. The break-in happened during demonstrations on May 30th. The flag was taken from a glass display case that had been shattered. The flag had flown aboard the U.S.S. Reno in World War Two, and was donated to the city in 1946 by two sailors from Reno who served on that ship. Four days after the theft a package was delivered anonymously to Reno television station KRNV. It contained the missing flag, which was promptly returned to a teary-eyed vice mayor within the hour.
