A driver on drugs caused a head-on crash and then fled the scene Wednesday afternoon, according to Redding Police. At 3:30PM the driver of a Ford F-150 pickup was southbound on Hilltop Drive when he made a left turn into the path of a van, and they collided head-on. The driver of the pickup ran away, leaving the two occupants of the van with lacerations. The driver was transported to a hospital. Meanwhile the RPD started looking for the other driver. With help from a CHP helicopter and witnesses, 33-year-old Hal Kimberly Sutherland was found several blocks away. He had apparently already changed his clothing. Police say he admitted to being the driver of the pickup. He was booked for driving under the influence of drugs causing injury, fleeing the scene of a collision and violating his post release supervision.
