Coroner Identifies Bicyclist Struck And Killed By Anderson Police Vehicle

A bicyclist struck and killed by an Anderson Police car Sunday night has been identified by the Shasta County Coroner’s Office as 33-year-old William Riley James Taylor of Redding. At about 9PM Sunday an APD Officer was northbound on a dark stretch of Highway 273 just south of Thomas Road when the patrol vehicle struck Taylor, who was apparently riding in the traffic lane. The officer attempted life saving efforts until paramedics arrived but Taylor died at the scene.

A pedestrian who was killed between Anderson and Redding last week has been identified by the Shasta County Coroners Office. 55-year-old Jeanne Marie LaFont of Redding was struck and by a vehicle on Eastside Road near Latona Road on the evening of October 4th. She was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. Her family has been notified, and the CHP is still investigating.
