Cal-Fire and Redding Fire were chasing wind-driven spot fires all day Thursday and into the night. A fire was quickly stopped Thursday afternoon between Palo Cedro and Millville. A little before 3:30PM, the vegetation fire was reported to be taking off from the side of Highway 44 a little east of Silverbridge Road. Forward progress was stopped within minutes by the first arriving engines, with the fire held to about 2 acres of dry grass and light brush. Another small fire slowed traffic on Highway 44 about a mile and a half east of Millville. At 4:30PM Thursday afternoon about a half acre of dry grass burned in a vacant lot off Westside Road and El Reno Drive in South Redding. It was human caused, but the specific cause remains under investigation. Overnight a fire burned about a quarter acre off Jacqueline Street in Anderson, and an earlier fire burned a small area of thick brush in the area of Pinion Drive. Redding Firefighters were called Friday morning of a vegetation fire in the Lost Lane area next to the North Market Street Hill. Forward progress has been stopped at about 3 acres.
