PG&E hopes to have electricity restored to all their customers by 10 O’clock Friday night, following a public safety power shutoff. The utility cut electricity starting at 6 O’clock Wednesday night, eventually affecting about 50,000 PG&E customers, including 4,700 in Shasta County, 1,230 in Tehama County, 180 in Trinity County and 11,400 in Butte County. The lines and other grid components need to be inspected for damage before the system can be re-energized. Black Butte Elementary and Middle Schools are closed again Friday due to the shutoff.
