Convicted Felon Arrested After Firing Gun During Argument

A Burney man has been arrested for allegedly firing a gun during an argument about two chainsaws. A little after 6PM Thursday night Shasta County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to a home on Bue Way. Gary Howard reported that his roommate, 38-year-old Larry Holdaway, had fired a rifle at him. When deputies arrived they ordered Holdaway to come outside with his hands up and after a short time he complied. After talking with him and witnesses, deputies determined that he had fired a 22 caliber round towards Howard’s feet while they were inside the home arguing. The loaded rifle was seized. Holdaway is a convicted felon and therefore prohibited from possessing guns. He was booked into jail for assault with a gun, negligent discharge and other charges.
