Shasta County reported 12 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday. The total number of confirmed cases is now 1,999. 31 people have died from the virus in Shasta County. Three teenagers are among the new cases. 12 currently are currently hospitalized and 1 person is in intensive care. There are 102 active cases and 272 people are quarantined due to possible exposure.
Shasta County Public Health says that people with comorbidities are more likely to suffer serious complications if they are diagnosed with COVID-19. In Shasta County 36.7% of residents have hypertension, 33.1% of people are obese, and 15.5% have diabetes.
Since the 1st of June over 85% of the people who tested positive for Coronavirus have shown symptoms. The most common were fever, headache, cough and muscle aches.
Public health officials remind everyone that we all play a role in controlling the spread. Small gatherings continue to be a problem. Door-to-door trick or treating is not recommended, but if it is done, parents are urged to use common sense. Whether handing out candy or collecting candy, everyone should be screened first for fever and other symptoms. Most costumes don’t protect against airborne droplets, so a cloth mask should be worn in addition to anything else.
Trinity County Public Health is reporting that the public may have been exposed to the Coronavirus in Weaverville. Anyone who visited any bars in Weaverville between 6PM and 11PM on Friday October 13th or any restaurants on Saturday the 14th between 1:30PM and 6PM may have been exposed to the virus. There have been 28 cases have been confirmed in Trinity County.
Butte County has had 3,113 cases and now 53 deaths. Tehama County has had 918 cases and 9 deaths. Glenn County has had 682 cases and 3 deaths, and they’ve improved to the red tier. Lassen County has had one death among 124 cases in the community and 641 in prison. There have been 214 cases in Siskiyou County and 558 in Humboldt County with 9 deaths. Modoc County has had a recent surge to 45 cases.
