Separate Crashes Leave Motorcycle Riders Injured In Redding

Two completely unrelated major injury motorcycle crashes happened on East Redding streets Tuesday within a half hour of each other. At 10:02AM 53-year-old Mark Allen McBryde was riding a Kawasaki Ninja on Hartnell Avenue southbound past the V.A. Clinic when he lost control on the curve and smacked into the side of the Children’s Dentistry Office at Shotwick Drive. There were apparently no witnesses. McBryde suffered a significant injury to his right leg. He was transported to Mercy Hospital and Redding Police cited and released him for DUI and possession of Methamphetamine. At 10:27AM officers were called to East Cypress Avenue just east of Churn Creek Road. 25-year-old Zachary Aaron Miller was riding a Honda CBR westbound on Cypress and accelerating rapidly, according to witnesses, when 77-year-old Bruce Teren of Whitmore pulled out of the Safeway parking lot to make a left turn directly into Miller’s path. Miller struck the bed of the truck and suffered major injuries. He was transported to Mercy Hospital. Intoxication is not suspected in that crash.
Witnesses to either collision are urged to call Officer Mack at the Redding Police Department.
