APD Searching For Driver After Crash Injured Officer

Anderson Police say they know who was driving a stolen car that was being chased by an APD Officer who crashed on Sunday. An officer tried to pull over a car on Ox Yoke Road but the driver didn’t yield and a chase headed south on Highway 273. When they reached Biggs Street next to the fairgrounds a car pulled into the intersection and was struck by the police interceptor. The suspect kept going and the car was later found abandoned nearby off North Street. It had been stolen from Win-River Casino. The officer was treated at a hospital for minor injuries. The APD says the driver who got away is 38-year-old James David Burnett, currently on Post Release Supervision for domestic violence and car theft. Burnett’s whereabouts are not known.
