Two Arrested On Felony Charges After Deputies Uncover Honey Oil Lab Equipment

A Saturday morning traffic stop led to the discovery of a dismantled butane honey oil lab, according to the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office. A deputy pulled over a car on Old Oregon Trail and noticed the smell of pot and a large stainless steel tube with green leafy residue on it, recognizing it as an extraction tube for a concentrated cannabis lab. 25-year-old Josiah Jacob Layoff and 37-year-old Caleb Benjamin Nesslage were detained while the car was searched, reportedly turning up marijuana trimmings, multiple cases of butane and all the other components to produce honey oil using the dangerous butane process. SINTF took over and reported finding more equipment at Nesslage’s home. Both men were booked on multiple felonies.
