Redding Police Capture Suspect Who Fled From Anderson Police In Stolen Vehicle

A man captured by Redding Police early Wednesday morning is believed to be the driver of a stolen car that was being chased by an Anderson Police Officer who crashed last week. On November 14th the officer tried to pull over a car on Ox Yoke Road but the driver didn’t yield and a chase headed south on Highway 273. When they reached Biggs street next to the fairgrounds a car pulled into the intersection and was struck by the police interceptor. The suspect kept going and the car was later found abandoned nearby off North Street. It had been stolen from Win-River Casino. The officer was treated at a hospital for minor injuries. The APD said the driver who got away is 38-year-old James David Burnett, who was on post release supervision for domestic violence and car theft. Wednesday morning Redding Police learned that Burnett was at an East Redding house, so they surrounded the home and took Burnett into custody. He allegedly confessed to being the driver.
