The Shasta County Sheriff’s Department has its eye on an office building near the airport, and Tuesday a request will be made to the Board of Supervisors to buy the property for $3.8 Million. An immediate use for the facility would be as an emergency operations center. The county apparently leased private space to establish an operations center for COVID-19. The purchase price of the Lockheed Drive property is $50,000 more than the appraised value, but county administration is apparently willing to pay it. The parcel includes a 16,000 square foot office building and a 1200 square foot shop. There’s also a space where a 6,000 square foot building could be added for the sheriff’s patrol division.
