Shasta County Unemployment Rate Drops As Workers Stop Searching For Jobs

Officials say more people are stopping their search for work in California amid the Coronavirus pandemic. The California Employment Development Department reported 1700 people dropped off the labor force in Shasta County last month. That was one primary factor in the county’s slight drop in unemployment to 6.5%. Shasta County nearly matched the national rate of 6.4%. The state’s unemployment rate was 8.3% last month. It was 6.8% in Tehama County, 6.1% in Trinity County and 7.3% in Siskiyou County.
