Woman Fatally Shot By RPD Officer On Christmas Eve

A woman was killed by police after a wild crime spree Christmas Eve. At 7PM officers were sent to Irwin Road after a man was shot. When they got there the victim had already been taken to a hospital with two gunshot wounds. He’s expected to survive. Witnesses said the shooter was a woman who told them she was going to shoot more people. Officers then learned that a woman had committed a carjacking at the Domino’s Pizza on Cypress. The victim resisted and during the struggle a shot was fired but it didn’t hit anybody. The woman got away with the car, which she then drove into the front doors of Walmart on Dana Drive. She drove the car around the cash register area before driving back out of the store and fleeing prior to officers’ arriving. While searching the area, an officer found the car unoccupied behind an apartment complex off Old Alturas and Browning. Another officer on foot then spotted a woman with large knives in each hand walking in the area and she ran away north on Browning. She approached a moving car and then turned around and advanced toward the officer, still holding the knives, and the officer shot her. The woman was declared dead at the scene. Her name has not been released. While police were blocking the road at Browning and friendly, someone crashed into a marked RPD patrol car. The driver was arrested for DUI.
