A dog died in a structure fire Tuesday morning in North Redding. Redding Firefighters responded at 8:30AM to a smoke column on McElroy Lane off Oasis Road, and to the rear of a home they found a 12 by 12 foot storage shed fully involved in flames. The blaze was quickly contained. The small structure had been converted to be a dwelling. The resident was asleep when the fire started and was able to escape, but a dog did not make it out and perished in the fire. About a Thousand Dollars worth of belongings were also destroyed. Investigators determined the fire had been caused by a makeshift wood stove being used to heat the shed. Firefighters stayed for about an hour for mop up, and helped bury the dog.
