Supervisors Vote To Reopen Chambers For In-Person Attendance

The Shasta County Board of Supervisors have voted to reopen their meetings to in-person attendance. It was a 3 to 2 vote Wednesday, with Leonard Moty and Mary Rickert opposed. A policy of distancing had been established for when the county is in the purple or red tier of Covid restrictions. Supervisors have been attending electronically and streaming their meetings online. Public comments have been coming in mostly by E-mail and voice mail, but they’ve all been shared at each meeting. Tuesday was the first board meeting since Patrick Jones was elected to the board. He and Les Baugh showed up to the supervisors chambers in person and opened the doors to allow the public inside as well. Almost none of them wore masks or observed social distancing. Wednesday’s resolution allows the public to attend, but only 24 of them at a time and they must wear masks. County staff will have the option of maintaining distance through teleconferencing.
