Following a report of 10 Covid deaths from Tuesday, Shasta County has reported another 6 from Wednesday for a total of 95. The latest fatalities were a woman in her 70’s, a man in his 70’s, two men in their 80’s, and a man and woman over age 89. Another 167 cases were confirmed from Wednesday, for a total so far of 8,741. An estimated 618 people have the virus right now, 49 of them hospitalized and 7 of them in intensive care. The regional ICU capacity is 25.4%. A level of 15% would trigger the stay at home order already imposed on most of the state.
A state public health order issued Tuesday could result in ICU patients being shipped to Northern California from Southern California and the San Joaquin Valley. California has reported a record two-day total of 1,042 Coronavirus deaths as many hospitals strain under unprecedented caseloads. A travel advisory issued Wednesday “strongly discouraged” people from out of state from entering California. Residents are being urged not to travel more than 120 miles from their homes.
Tehama County has reported 3,670 cases and 40 deaths.
There have been 285 cases and 4 deaths in Trinity County.
1,280 have been reported in Siskiyou County with 12 deaths.
Lassen County has had 9 deaths among their 1,594 cases in the community and 2 deaths among the 3,353 cases in prison.
Butte County has reported 102 deaths among their 8,217 cases.
Glenn County has had 1,580 cases and 16 deaths.
Humboldt County has had 1,998 cases and 23 deaths.
Modoc County has had 353 cases and now 3 deaths.
A new state law requires employers to notify workers about possible exposure to COVID-19 and to report outbreaks to the health department within 48 hours. 3 or more cases in a 14 day period is considered an outbreak.

Local healthcare leaders are pleading with the public to slow the spread through the proven practices of staying home and away from other people as much as possible and wearing face coverings when going out.
The deadline has been extended to apply for small businesses grants from the State of California. $500 million worth of relief grant funding is available, with individual grants of between 5 and 25,000 Dollars.
