Cottonwood Man Accused In Two Separate Redding Crime Sprees

Redding Police say they chased a Cottonwood man twice within 3 days, and he got caught the second time. At 2:40 Friday afternoon RPD officers spotted a stolen Honda Civic on the ramp from Airport Road to eastbound Highway 44. A traffic stop was attempted but the driver fled recklessly and at high speed. For public safety the RPD stopped chasing, but a CHP helicopter was following from above. The Civic was tracked into Palo Cedro to Harvest Lane off Maynard. The driver fled into the thick woods. The RPD and the CHP spent two hours searching the woods before the helicopter crew spotted 36-year-old Jason Kenyon and led the RPD and Chase the K9 to him. Kenyon was treated for a dog bite, then booked into jail. Police say Kenyon stole the Honda early Friday morning from Lake City Towing. He’s also accused of stealing a BMW from the same tow yard early Wednesday. That driver led a chase from the Shasta View/Goodwater area then got away on foot and broke into a home on Marlene to hide. The resident arrived and a man believed to be Kenyon ran out the back door, leaving behind a handgun and ammo magazines. He’s being charged in both crime sprees.
