Report of Man With Gun Locks Down Casino

There was a scare at Win-River Casino Wednesday night as a man with an assault-style rifle fired multiple shots into a nearby home, according to the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office. Just after 5 o’clock someone called 911 to say her son, 40-year-old Brian McCain, was armed with a gun similar to an AK-47 and had threatened to kill certain people including himself. She said he had already fired several shots toward a home. Deputies with help from CalFire and Anderson Police responded and roads leading into the area were blocked by the CHP. Casino staff were told to lock the doors and keep all the employees and patrons inside. A CHP helicopter crew directed deputies to a house off Redding Rancheria Road where they had seen a man going inside. A loudspeaker was used to call McCain out and after several minutes he came to a second story window and yelled profanities at the deputies surrounding the house. Several minutes after that McCain exited the front door unarmed. He refused to get on the ground and there was a fight that resulted in one deputy being slightly injured. Nobody else was in the house and the gun was not there either. McCain reportedly admitted to shooting into another house and he was booked into jail for violently resisting arrest and grossly negligent discharge of a gun.
