Another 5 Coronavirus deaths have been reported in Shasta County, a man and woman in their 60’s, a woman in her 70’s, a man in his 80’s and a man over age 89. A total of 122 Shasta County residents have been killed by the virus. Over the course of Friday through Monday an additional 182 cases have been confirmed for a total of 9,776 so far. An estimated 493 people have the virus right now, 53 of them hospitalized and 7 of them in intensive care. The regional ICU capacity is 30.5%. Shasta County’s adjusted case rate has edged up from 48.3 to 49.6 daily cases per 100,000 residents. More testing can bring that number down. The threshold for the purple tier is 7.
Tehama County has reported 4,332 cases and 44 deaths.
There have been 302 cases and 4 deaths in Trinity County.
1,446 have been reported in Siskiyou County with 13 deaths.
Butte County has reported 123 deaths among their 9,368 cases.
Lassen County has had 14 deaths among their 1,781 cases in the community and 2 deaths among the 3,414 cases in prison.
Glenn County has had 1,844 cases and 19 deaths.
Humboldt County has had 2,393 cases and 24 deaths.
Modoc County has had 385 cases and 3 deaths.
Shasta County residents at least 75 years old may be vaccinated, but supplies are still very limited. As more clinics are scheduled they’ll be posted to shastaready.org . Anyone can be notified when they become eligible by going to shastaready.org and selecting “Tell Me When It’s My Turn”. The state has pulled back on administering one batch of Moderna vaccine because of a number of allergic reaction.
Local healthcare leaders are pleading with the public to slow the spread through the proven practices of staying home and away from other people as much as possible and wearing face coverings when going out.
A new state law requires employers to notify workers about possible exposure to COVID-19 and to report outbreaks to the health department within 48 hours. 3 or more cases in a 14 day period is considered an outbreak.
