There’s a vacancy on the Shasta Lake City Council, and applications are being accepted. The opening occurred after council member Larry Farr passed away on January 20th following an automobile accident a few days earlier. The council had the option of calling a special election, but that would have cost $70-$100,000. Even though Farr was just elected to a four year term, whoever is appointed will only serve for two years, and then have to run for office at the next general election in 2022 for a two year additional term.
