Group To Offer Free Training On Reporting Child Abuse

Free local training is offered for mandated child abuse reporters in Shasta County, which has a notoriously high rate of abuse. The state average for child abuse incidents is 7.4 per 100,000 people. Last year Shasta County averaged 19.8 per 100,000. The training is available for the general public as well as teachers, healthcare workers, or anyone else whose job requires them under state law to report signs of child abuse. The 2-hour online workshop will cover what to watch for and how to make an accurate report. Each participant will be given a certificate of completion. It’s presented by Pathways to Hope for Children via Zoom Wednesday evening (2/10) from 6PM to 8PM. Information is at hopeshasta.org or 242-2020.
