Former Shasta County DA Resigning From Job As U.S. Attorney

McGregor Scott is resigning as U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of California. President Biden has asked for the resignation of many of his predecessor’s Justice Department appointees, but Scott’s tenure under the Trump Administration was his second time on the job. He was first appointed to the position by George W Bush and served from 2003 to 2009. Prior to that he was the Shasta County District Attorney. As top prosecutor for the 34 counties of California’s Eastern District, Scott had 92 attorneys working for him. Assistant Attorney Phillip Talbert will take over after Scott leaves at the end of the month.
