CHP: 20 Pounds Of Drugs Seized On I-5

A driver carrying an enormous stash of drugs was anything but inconspicuous while traveling through Shasta County, according to the CHP. At about 11 O’clock Saturday night 9-1-1 callers reported a Jeep Cherokee speeding on Northbound I-5 near Cottonwood at around 90 miles an hour. As the SUV reached the South Bonnyview exit it collided with a big rig, but the driver continued northbound. Somewhere near Shasta Lake City one of the Jeep’s front tires fell off after it was damaged during the previous hit-and-run collision. Officers caught up to the disabled Jeep near Fawndale and the driver was arrested. During a search the CHP says that over 20 pounds of Meth and Heroin was found in several packages. SINFT was called to assist and they estimated the value of the drugs at $300,000. The driver was booked for drug trafficking and for hit-and-run.
