Supervisors To Discuss Leaving California’s COVID-19 Tier System

On Tuesday the Shasta County Board of Supervisors will discuss abandoning the state’s coronavirus guidelines. The discussion was approved at this week’s meeting by a 3 to 2 vote. The proposed resolution would terminate the state of emergency declared by the county on March 24th of last year and remove the county from California’s blueprint for a safer economy, along with it’s color-coded tier system of restrictions. The legality of such a resolution, which would be in contradiction to emergency powers claimed by the Governor’s office, has not been tested.
