Victims Of Fatal Crash On I-5 Were From Anderson

The two people killed in a crash off Southbound Interstate 5 between Redding and Anderson early Wednesday morning were both from Anderson. At around 4:15AM a 2006 Toyota sedan was traveling at high speed when it flew off the freeway about a half mile north of the Sacramento River Bridge where the freeway takes a slight curve. The small car struck a large Oak Tree, and the mangled car then caromed across Riverland Drive and came to rest against a utility pole in front of a mobile home park. Both occupants were killed. The coroner’s office has not released names, but they’ve identified the driver as a 40-year-old man and the passenger as a 25-year-old woman, both from Anderson. Neither was wearing a seatbelt.
