Shasta County Approaching 200 COVID-19 Deaths

Covid has killed two more Shasta County men, one in his 60s and one in his 70s. The total is now 197. Another 31 cases have been reported, along with 1,022 negative tests. The total number of cases so far is 11,146. An estimated 91 people have the virus right now, 4 of them hospitalized and 1 in intensive care.

Tehama County has reported 5,213 cases and 54 deaths.
There have been 384 cases and 5 deaths in Trinity County.
1,850 have been reported in Siskiyou County with 14 deaths.
Butte County has reported 171 deaths among their 10,975 cases.
Lassen County has had 22 deaths among their 2,036 cases in the community and 2 deaths among the 3,598 cases in prison.
Humboldt County has had 3,419 cases and 35 deaths.
Modoc County has had 467 cases and 4 deaths.

The CDC is relaxing social distancing recommendations for schools, saying students can sit as close as 3 feet apart in classrooms, rather than the previous 6-foot distancing recommendation.

The U.S. is now administering about 2.5 million vaccinations per day, and has exceeded the goal of 100 million in Biden’s first 100 days in office.

Several vaccine clinics in the next few days still have available appointments and eligibility has been expanded. There’s no cost to receive a vaccine. Details are at shastaready.org under “Vaccinations”.
