Snowplows Damage Area Highways, Repairs Underway On Highway 299

This year’s snow storm in the Redding area was no “Snowmaggedon”, but it took it’s toll. Snowplows working to clear roadways scraped off around 27,000 raised reflective pavement markers on Interstate 5 between Red Bluff and Shasta Lake, as well as Highways 44,273 and 299. Obviously repairing such damage involves working in the middle of the road, so some moving lane closures should be expected in the next several weeks as the damaged reflectors are removed and replaced. The job will begin on Highway 299 this week before moving on to other highways. Work should be done by the end of April. The cost is $380,000.
