Unemployment Rate Shows Slight Improvement

Shasta County’s jobs picture had only a slight improvement overall last month, but one particularly hard hit industry showed a big jump. The 7.8% unemployment rate is just a tenth of a point above January as 300 people joined the labor force, all of them with jobs. Accommodation and food services gained 500 jobs, according to E.D.D. Research Data Specialist Sheila Stock. California’s rate improved to 8.4% and it was 6.6% nationwide.
