Arrest Made After Early Morning Shooting In South Redding

A man was shot in South Redding early Tuesday morning, and an arrest was made soon after. A 9-1-1 call was made at 2:17AM by 29-year-old Fabian Ortiz, saying he was under the Highway 273 bridge over Clear Creek and he had been shot in the stomach. Ortiz was transported to a hospital with multiple life-threatening gunshot wounds, though Redding Police say he’s expected to survive. Investigators learned that Ortiz had been in an ongoing feud with 32-year-old Angel Hesse. When the two encountered each other at the bridge, Hesse allegedly fired on Ortiz with a handgun before fleeing in his Lincoln Towne Car. Just before 3AM an RPD Officer saw the car pulling into the Win-River Casino parking lot and Hesse was taken into custody. He’s been booked into jail for attempted murder. Anyone with information that may help the investigation is asked to contact Redding Police.
