The CHP says alcohol is suspected of being a factor in a crash that killed a woman in Cottonwood Tuesday night. Just after 8 O’clock in the gated community of Lake California, 27-year-old Jovana Sanchez was driving a 2016 Mazda with 26-year-old Scott Joyce as a passenger. The CHP says the car was accelerating rapidly on River View Arive approaching Antelope Creek Drive when Sanchez abruptly made a left turn and the car left the road and struck a tree. Scott Joyce was wearing a seatbelt and suffered minor injuries. Jovana Sanchez was not wearing a seatbelt and she was killed.
