RPD Arrests Man After Failed Robbery Attempt

A Redding man tried and failed to rob a bank on Monday, according to Redding Police. At 9:35AM officers were called to the Banner Bank on Cypress Avenue across the street from Tiger Field. Employees said a man had come in with a hoodie covering his head and a mask concealing his face, and he handed a note to a teller demanding money. The teller simply refused to hand over any cash so the robber turned and fled out of the bank, heading up the street on foot. Officers confronted 35-year-old Brandon Evans near Cypress and Pine, and convinced him to surrender. Bank employees identified him as the robber and he was booked into jail.
